Summer Solstice Sangha: 108 Sun Salutations

May 26, 2016

Monday, June 20th 7-8:30pm

A recognized yoga celebration of practicing 108 Sun Salutes on the day of Summer Solstice! It is the day with the most sunlight. At the height of the sun’s light and our own increasing energy we will set out to do our very own 108 SUN SALUTATIONS!  It is akin to running a marathon.  You know it will be a challenge.  You know you are going to be sore after but it’s more about getting through it than coming in first place.

The Significance of “108”

Why, do you ask, do we do 108 of them?  The distance to the sun is 108 times that of the earth. That's we partake together the ancient practice of 108 Sun Salutations to honor the great light.

The Music!

Moving with breath is energizing and when we move together to live music it is even more so.  Think of it like a dance, a yogi party, a sun celebration.

The Format

Remember, just as in all classes, modifications are always good!  Each teacher will lead the group in 27 rounds of the salutations and then we will take a break. You can come down to your knees when you are tired, just always keep breathing.

We hope you join us for this wonderful nationally recognized yoga event!
